WHAT TO EXPECT
The initial office visit with Dr. Tutton includes a comprehensive interview and pertinent exams. Dr. Tutton will discuss your completed intake form to design a thorough profile of your present condition. This form is sent to you in advance of your visit and is intended to guide you in presenting your medical history and nutritional and lifestyle habits. She requests that you bring these forms and all relevant medical records, lab reports and a list of all your current medications with you to your first office visit. Further diagnostic testing may be required to complete your evaluation.
Your first visit will focus on your long-term goals in attaining optimal health and may include treatment for any immediate needs. Natural therapies are selected that complement medications prescribed by your other health care providers, and every effort is made to work with these providers toward the common goal of maximizing your overall good health.
THERAPIES
Our clinic emphasizes individualized treatment, and a commitment from patients to comply with diet and lifestyle changes. We offer natural, nontoxic and time-proven therapies to reinforce the body's innate healing processes. Any of the following treatments may be utilized by itself or in combination with other therapies.
ACUPUNCTURE
In addition to traditional acupuncture, Dr. Tutton uses the AcuGraph Digital Meridian System for evaluation and treatment. This is a computerized tool that analyzes and documents the energetic status of acupuncture meridians. The goal is to aid in restoring energetic balance in the meridians, allowing your body to function normally and return to health naturally. She uses this system to make better informed decisions about your condition and provide the best specific treatments possible.
CLINICAL NUTRITION
Nutrition is the ultimate cornerstone of health. Dr. Tutton evaluates the patient's current diet, making necessary adjustments. An individualized supplement program drawing from clinically-specific vitamins, phytonutrients, homeopathics, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants and probiotics may be recommended. These are selected to effectively treat the numerous conditions brought on by a body weakened from poor diet, stress, unbalanced lifestyle choices, toxicity, infection and digestive disorders. Dr. Tutton utilizes the Advanced Nutrient Therapy protocols developed by Dr. William J. Walsh.
“This approach recognizes that nutrient imbalances can alter brain levels of key
neurotransmitters, disrupt gene expression of proteins and enzymes, and cripple the body’s protection against environmental toxins. Dr. Walsh … has identified high-incidence imbalances in patients challenged by behavior disorders, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. The treatment protocol consists of a medical history, specialized lab testing, diagnosis of chemical imbalance, and individualized treatment aimed at normalizing brain chemistry.” — Walsh Research Institute
HERBAL MEDICINE
Most prescription medicines have their origins in plants, herbs and minerals. Unfortunately, when their active ingredients are isolated in laboratory testing and production processing, the occurrence of side effects increases. When they no longer contain the original trace minerals and elements that act as natural buffering properties, normal physiology is often compromised. Contrastingly, extractions from whole plants, herbs and minerals are effective and safe when properly prescribed. These can be administered as teas, capsules, poultices or liquids.
HORMONES
With a philosophy of functional endocrinology, our long-term goals are to restore natural metabolic feedback loops using diet, nutrition, herbal supplements, homeopathics and lifestyle changes that optimize physiology rather than dominate it. Functional endocrinology identifies and treats early and subclinical problems in the hormonal system — male and female hormones, thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, hypothalamus — before they are diagnosed as a disease state. We search for clues as to why, for example, your blood tests are normal but you still feel unwell. Once a disease has progressed, functional endocrinology looks at the complex patterns and interactions of hormones working together as a family as they relate to digestion, immunity and metabolic conditions. Bio-identical hormones may be prescribed short-term, if necessary, to relieve uncomfortable symptoms while looking for the underlying cause of the hormone imbalance.
NEUROFEEDBACK
“The LENS, or Low Energy Neurofeedback System, is a unique and effective form of neurotherapy that facilitates changes in people of all ages with a wide variety of presenting issues. As a result, it has the capacity to address numerous symptoms and deficits. It is remarkably effective, and over 85% of people who have used the LENS have benefitted significantly from it. Results can be seen quickly, often beginning within the first session, and are lasting.” — Ochs Labs
Among many other conditions and symptoms, “The LENS works well with symptoms of Central Nervous Symptom dysfunction. These include symptoms of ADD, ADHD, Seizures and sub-clinical seizure activity, severely disruptive behavior disorders such as Conduct Disorder, Reactive Attachment and Bipolar Disorder, Autistic spectrum and pervasive developmental delay, Cerebral palsy, concussive injuries, PTSD, Acquired Brain Injury, and Birth Trauma.
The LENS works extremely well with the symptoms of Traumatic Brain Injury, no matter how long ago the incident occurred. The trauma can be from a physical blow, a concussive injury, a psychological incident (PTSD), or any other incident(s) which results in a decrease in cognitive ability.
Many children have sleep problems that can be helped such as bed wetting, sleep walking, sleep talking, teeth grinding, nightmares, and night terrors. The LENS can also be helpful with many of the symptoms of adolescence including drug abuse, anxiety and depression. The LENS can also help in maintaining good brain function as people age.” — Ochs Labs
